Letter : Saratoga, to General [Nicholas] Herkimer, 1776 October 27.

Letter to General Nicholas Herkimer. "Your letter of the 25th instant is just come to hand. I have taken measures for sending a body of troops into your quarters to protect the country, and you may very soon expect them. I do not apprehend that the inhabitants have so much to fear as you seem to imagine, I dare say we shall give a good account of the enemy in every quarter. I enclose you an account of our success near New York." Written at Saratoga, N.Y.
